When Mt Baker got slammed with the first storm of the season, we all knew an early Opening Day was in the works. What we didn't know is that it would be the deepest Opening Day snow base in Mt Baker's history. It wasn't just any storm afterall. ...

Last winter Dave Treadway and I spent a good amount of time exploring terrain new to us. West form Pemberton we used sleds, skis, skins and crampons over several different multi-day trips to really get to know our way round the rad peaks surounding Cathedral Mountain.

The last few days of storms all lined up to produce one of the most memorable first days in the Baker Back-Country. One day before the lifts started turning Danielle, Sara, Colin and Andre joined me for the face shot party!

There's a bout 70cms of snow at Paul Ridge in Garibaldi Provincial park. The skiing is nice and fluffly...a few boulders underneath but the nonetheless it's real skiing! Nov 7th and 8th 2009...we made turns. And the forecast in the pacific northwest is ridcu-crunk-ulous...
