Guddeck-Gibson Jean I have my beloved husband's ashes (Glen) as well as my beloved cat's ashes (Onyx). They will both be interred with me when I go. It is such a comfort to have their ashes on my mantle.

Hello Kitty,

To all Eternal Reefs Fans, a sincere thanks directly from me and from the Reef Ball Foundation, you have no idea how much extra habitat for our ocean systems Eternal Reefs provides. Each placement adds more than 400 pounds of biomass to our oceans each year...forever. 30% fish for you fish lovers, 70% of the rest mak...es up all those lovely sea creatures we all enjoy. Get out a calculator...4046 Eternal Reef Fans times 400 pounds (if you all do just one Reef Ball)....thats one million six hundred thousand + pounds of marine life every year......let's say times 500 years...okay that's over 800 million.....but let's be optimistic that fan base will grow and it's easy to call it a billion. YOU have made a difference....

PS Eternal Reefs has already deployed over a thousand....so that makes a quarter of a million pounds of marine life. I will make one more when it's my time.

Hello Michael,

Eternal Reefs are only placed in permitted sites that have been designated for either recreational usage for fishing and diving, or for habitat development. We are presently working on an approved permit for Eternal Reefs in Canadian waters. We will keep you and all of our fans updated as we make progress in that direction.

Thank you for becoming a fan. THe more fans we have, and the more from Canada, the more it helps us with gaiing the necessary approvals. So help us some more by inviting your friends and family members to become fans of Eternal Reefs.... Read More

Hello Bruce,

We still have not gotten the memorial reefs placed. We are still trying to coordinate everyone with the weather and water visability. We are shooting for this coming Monday, and are now concerned about the weather again. As soon as they are placed we will notify everyone and post photo's along with any video that we get. We really regret these delays and they are our biggest concern. I am sorry about how long it is taking and will keep you posted.

Sincerely, George

Hi Karen,

Love your photo! We actually have done a memorial for a turtle. Dare's Reef was placed off of North Carolina's Topsail Island. It was a memorial that we did with the Karen Beasley Turtle Rescue Clinic and was one of the most fun projects we have ever been involved with.
I like your idea of the aquarium and I have sent the designers an email to see if they are interested in adding an Eternal Reef to their application.
Thanks for the idea and I let you know if they are going to do it.... Read More

As a lover of all marine topics, as well as marine biology, I was amazed when I discovered Eternal Reefs. It's so important for families/individuals to have plans for themselves upon their passing, and there is nothing morbid about put those plans in place so the family does not have to speculate what the person wanted... when they're already in an emotional state as it is.
I know that I want to return to the ocean upon my death, and would do the same for my young son if the same occurs (my fiance has chosen another option). My love for the ocean is as vast and deep as the ocean itself, and Eternal Reefs is a wonderful organization giving people the chance to show, in death, what they were passionate about in life. What a wonderful way to honor a loved one!

Shovelle As a scuba diver, I have never felt complete peace as I have when I'm underwater. It is a spiritual place that sadly is being ravaged. We appreciate your becoming a fan, and as a diver you will both benefit and appreciate what others have left behind. Thanks for joining and helping us spread the word of Eternal Reefs.

I'll second Shovelle. After diving for for 15 years I had my last diving accident and will now enjoy snorkeling.
I have actually made reef balls, and placed them with the Boy Scouts at Seabase in Islamorada, Florida. It's a wonderful experience to give back.

Hello Randi,

Organ donation is a great gift.
Many of the families we work with and the people we memorialize are organ donors and others have donated their bodies to science and medical schools. The Eternal Reefs Advance Planning Program is specially set up to accommodate the memorial wishes of those who donate their bodies. We will hold the cost of the Eternal Reefs for up to two years after passing so that the family can meet the final wishes of their loved one without unnecessary worry about paying for the Eternal Reef.

This idea is beautiful. I haven't talked to my husband yet but he might like it. The cool thing about ashes is that a person can have his or her ashes in several different places. Maybe Tom and I together will do the "Octopus's Garden" thing. I'm excited about the idea.

Hi Bobbie,

Thanks for becoming a fan, we can use all the fans we can get! We really try to balance a very dignified memorial with a very postive experiance where families and friends can take ownership of the making of the Eternal Reef. The reef quickly becomes more than a memorial, it becomes a personal tribute that they did with their own hands.
