Cell reprogramming is a great discipline, but the remodeling solely along lineage has a major Achilles' Heel associated with it - while the science has progressed on how to differentiate cells into 220 possible cell lineages, nothing has ye...t happened so far with regard to the reprogramming the "positional identity" of those cells (left/right; anterior/posterior; dorsal/ventral; proximal/distal, etc.), which normally gets layed down during embryonic patterning, and of which there are trillions of possibilities - thus those new cells may have cardiomyocyte characteristics, but they are "positionally" still skin with specific coordinates, and the cells in the new micro-environment they are introduced to know this and begin to fight back - hence why survivability is so low (< 10%) in these types of in-vivo studies - this also is directly related to why metastatic tumors have such a low success rate in invading new tissues and colonizing - real success will only come if you can combine lineage and positional identity.See More
