Description

In light of Dr. George Tiller's murder this past Sunday, CPC Watch wishes to dedicate our monthly demonstration outside the Pregnancy Care Center to his memory.

CPC Watch activists and supporters in Greensboro, NC convene outside the Pregnancy Care Center on the first Tuesday of the month from 5:00-6:00pm.

Crisis pregnancy centers like the Pregnancy Care Center of Greensboro are one of the greatest threats facing access to comprehensive information regarding reproductive health. They distribute a wealth of false and misleading information to vulnerable women who believe they are visiting a real clinic, but have actually stepped into an anti-choice agency with an agenda to limit reproductive options. Women report being physically blocked from leaving these centers, being forced to watch graphic and misleading videos about abortion, are taught that most methods of contraception (the IUD, the birth control pill) cause an "early abortion", and are generally lied to about the risks of any reproductive option except abstinence and adoption. Many women say the CPC staff continued to harass them with phone calls and house visits long after leaving.

While we recognize Dr. Tiller was probably not murdered by anyone with an affiliation to crisis pregnancy centers, we believe all factions of the anti-choice camp play a role in creating monsters, monsters like the Army of God, whose member Rachelle Shannon shot George Tiller in 1993. We wish to create a vigil in Tiller's memory in front of the Pregnancy Care Center to further stand up for CHOICE, even the controversial late-term abortion choices Dr. Tiller provided to thousands of women.

The Pregnancy Care Center is located on the corner of W Bessemer and N Elm streets. Street parking is available on Hendrix street (one block south of the CPC) and on other side-streets nearby.
