5 PM - 6 PM
The Big Blues You Can Use Workshop®
The kids will be jamming when they receive a FREE Hohner harmonica and instruction booklet (while supplies last). National award-winning music educator David Berntson will lead kids on a songwriting journey that will have them blowing their harps like a pro. This program is generously supported by the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association.
6 PM - 9 PM
Austin Blues Society Harmonica Blow-Out
Set out your camp chairs and blankets (but please no coolers or outside refreshments) under the Star and listen to the Austin Blues Society Harmonica Blow-Out! Featuring a who's who of Austin's finest blues harp players! Walter T. Higgs, Paul Orta, Jimi Lee, and Ted Roddy will be trading licks onstage with a stellar back-up band guaranteed to blow the house down. Following their set will be none other than Texas Music Hall of Famer and R&B legend, Miss Lavelle White.
Enjoy some FREE Rudy's Barbecue, Mighty Fine Burgers, and Blue Bell ice cream while supplies last. A cash bar will be available on the Plaza.
Between music sets you can explore the Museum's three floors of exhibits for FREE between 6 - 9pm, including the special exhibition "Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America through Galveston Island." Free event parking is available in the Museum's underground garage on the corner of 18th and Congress.
