Description
On Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Amazura Arena, located at 91-12 144th Place Jamaica, New York, Team Classmen LLC will present Season 3 Battlefest 10 of Battlefest Dance League. The event will begin at 3:00 pm and will end approximately 8:00 pm. Our dancers have been working on a special tribute to Michael Jackson that will be performed at this event.
Team Classmen’s Battlefest is the biggest, elite, dance battle league of the undergrounds to hit America. Team Classmen is an organization that creates unique ways to uplift and motivate youth in the inner-city communities. Promoted mainly in the Tri-State area, with international exposure through Team Classmen’s DVD production of these events and online magazine (upperclassmenmag.com), Battlefest has become the most exciting regional dance competition event of the year.
Battlefest has recently performed at Hampton University in Virginia, and at the Oracle Area in Oakland, California. Receiving national exposure, Battlefest is now being recognized and contacted by several states and even countries including France, Japan, and Germany. Dancers from all over the nation are participating in Team Classmen’s Battlefest; including dancers from California, Memphis, Atlanta, Virginia, and even the U.S. Army. Battlefest is structured in a format such as the NBA or NFL, creating a regular 1 on 1 Battle season, in which competitions are held bi-monthly. The top dancers later advance through to the playoffs, which is called the ‘King of the Streetz’ Tournament, battling until one winner is declared. It is then followed by “Battlefest Awards Show”, which awards the talent and hard work that each dancer displayed during each competition. This is a family-oriented event, with a demographic at the 8-55 age range. Dancers gain exposure and encouragement to pursue a field they love and in which they can excel. Battlefest Dance Battle League also builds the confidence of and teaches sportsmanship to the participants. Battlefest Dance Battle League has been covered by local news stations including Channel 12 news station and the Village Voice, recognizing its service to the community and youths. Since its inception, Battlefest’s audience has grown by hundreds. In addition, Battlefest’s YouTube clips collectively receive over 800,000 views.
In the future, Team Classmen would like to assemble college tours and distribute scholarships to help support and encourage the participants to continue their education.
Team Classmen's Battlefest is professionally produced and managed, start to finish. Standards of safety are professionally and stringently enforced. Security personnel are always plentiful and well trained. To further insure that a low-risk, positive image is cast, anti-drug messages are a part of the promotion for Team Classmen's Battlefest, in print and electronic advertisements.
