Description
A training event to honor the "Trail of Tears" exodus, the Cherokee Nation, and their people. The Cherokee are a great people, seekers of peace, much like our karate teaches us to be, better individuals through our training. We will incorporate our annual benefit for St. Jude into this event.
On October 20, 1838 the removal of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee began at what is now Red Clay State Park, the final Council Grounds of the Cherokee, to Oklahoma. Escorted by soldiers, approximately 15,000 Cherokee were removed. Some of them escaped to what is now Cherokee, NC. Along the way more than 4,000 Cherokee men, women and children perished, especially the old and young. I challenge each of you to learn more about this perilous day in our history.
