Descriptio

National Day Without Stigma is a program of Active Minds, Inc. that kicks off Mental Health Awareness Week, October 5-9.

1 in 4 people have a diagnosable mental health disorder in a given year. ALL are affected. Stigma and inaccurate information keep people from seeking the help that they need. What will you do to help??

On Monday, October 5 students on campuses across the country will be working to spread awareness of mental health and reduce stigma surrounding mental health disorders. These efforts are vital: former President Bill Clinton said "mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of but stigma and bias shame us all".

Active Minds chapters will be hosting a variety of programming including Counselors Out of the Center, Stomp Out Stigma step shows, walks and runs and panel discussions as well as distributing educational resources, materials and giveaways! To learn more, visit: www.activeminds.org/stopstigma

To find out if there is a chapter of Active Minds at your school, visit: www.activeminds.org/findchapter

National Day Without Stigma is part of Active Minds' ongoing effort to open a dialogue about mental health on campuses. We look forward to the day when all college students are comfortable talking about these issues.
