Description
WACO (Washington Composers Orchestra) could be called a "wild post-downtown non-traditional big band for folks that don't normally like big bands." The band is a NW incarnation of the New York Composers Orchestra, started by Wayne Horvitz and Robin Holcomb in NYC in the 80s, and now features Tom Varner, who played in the original band, as well as top Seattle creative players such as Thomas Marriot, Mark Taylor, Phil Sparks, Eric Barber, Byron Vannoy, Chris Stover, Greg Sinibaldi, and Samantha Boshnack.
WACO:
Thomas Marriot, Samantha Boshnack, Tom Varner, Chris Stover, Nelson Bell, brass.
Eric Barber, Greg Sinibaldi, Jim DeJoie, Steve Treseler, Mark Taylor, reeds.
Wayne Horvitz and Robin Holcomb, composers and piano.
Phil Sparks, bass, and Byron Vannoy, drums.
