ARTHUR RUSSELL TRIBUTE NIGHT WITH LIVE GUESTS KILLER WHALE PLUS DJS FAZE ACTION, DOLAN BERGIN (ELECTRIC MINDS), YAM WHO PLUS MORE! - MONDAY 16TH NOVEMBER 2009 - 7PM UNTIL LATE
Electric Minds label has released Go Bang!, a fine collection of beautifully tasteful Arthur Russell covers - from a variety of fantastic artists including Yam Who, Recent Memory, My Tiger My Timing and Ilija Rudman. It's been blessed by the Russell estate and no wonder, this is a fine selection of reworks and tie in with Tim Lawrence's upcoming authoritative biography on the sadly departed musical icon.
Live on the night will be Killer Whale, a group comprising of many of the artists that played on the album and this will be one of only two confirmed live shows this year. DJs will be the many people who helped make this album come together - including Faze Action (the band that pretty much kickstarted the whole disco revival in the UK with their string-laden grooves that were undoubtedly influenced by Russell's productions as Loose Joints) Yam Who, who produced much of the album, John Reynolds and Dolan Bergin who runs the label and who has put the project together, . A great way to kick start the album's release in the newly located Pure Groove Records shop.
