Alapaki Yee, co-founder of the Gay Couples Institute is offering a FREE workshop called “Getting Through the Holidays” on Tuesday, December 1 from 6-8pm at the SF LGBT Community Center in San Francisco. “The GCI Couples Counseling Clinic sees a 250% increase over the holidays in gay couples distressed over issues with in-laws and parenting, much like you’d experience with heterosexual couples during the holiday season. We’re trying to be proactive and offer tools that couples can begin using immediately, if needed,” says Yee.

This workshop, created by Our Families Coalition (www.ourfamily.org), will offer discussion, strategies, and tips for navigating the holidays as a couple, and will deal with questions and issues like:

• "Whose house do we go to this year?"
• “I don't get along with my in-laws!"
• "Your parents aren't accepting of our family."
• "Do we honor our chosen family, or birth-family?"

During this workshop, Alapaki Yee will discuss unique stresses for gay couples, and how to create and keep a satisfying relationship – particularly during the holidays.
