Description
Virtue Trap has a show this Friday. We're as surprised as you are.
Since we all teach college, every member of the band has at least once experienced that sinking feeling of walking into a class totally unprepared. Maybe it was a bad night. Maybe there was a personal crisis. Maybe it was tenure and the realization that you don't have to care anymore. Whatever the reason, when a professional college instructor hits that classroom in a completely unprepared state something magical happens.
The impromptu, rambling, vague lecture, peppered with overly-broad prompts designed to trick students into the filling the hour with their equally unprepared musings. Said prof might open by saying "Let's do something a little different today" or "I want to take this time to make sure we're all on the same page about last week's assignment." Or, the absolute worst, “Lets put the desks into a circle so we can have a conversation.”
Well, that's what this week's VT show will be like. Confession: We forgot we had a show scheduled. We haven't rehearsed. We've not prepped any new tunes. We've only got around to announcing the gig a mere 20 hours before the gig was to begin.
Don't let that fool you. We are a semi-professional rock and roll act. Despite our utter contempt for you, our fans, and our disrespect for the craft of rock and roll, a craft (and art form) that deserves practitioners who take it seriously, you won't notice a difference.
You see, VT has a certain....quality, a certain undeniable level of basic competence that shines through even on nights when we're totally mailing it in. Come on out on Friday and see what we're talking about.
