Presenting the Official CD Release Show for Sharona Clarke’s CD “The Secret… is to Dream”, which was released in March 2009. The show follows right on the heels of MusicNL Awards weekend, and is exactly one year from the release of Sharona’s debut CD “On the Right Track” (Nov 18, 2008). This second CD was home-recorded in her apartment studio in February, as part of the RPM (Record Production Month) challenge to record a complete album in 28 days. Many of these songs were also written during the 28-day period, including five brand new songs, three instrumentals, and two songs revived from 2004.
The title of the album is loosely inspired by “The Secret”, a popular DVD documentary about the Law of Attraction -- hence the dot-dot-dot, what really IS the secret??
Sharona’s secret is to dream, whether she is following or living her dreams, interpreting her dreams, or writing songs by dreaming them. The title track (minus the ellipses!), “The Secret is to Dream”, is a gentle, instrumental piano waltz that evokes a dreamy state. “A Bully Revealed” is a fairy-tale story created from Sharona’s dream about a giant who captured her to play the piano for him. “God’s Rainbows” is a divinely-inspired song which Sharona dreamed, woke up singing, and recorded the chorus into her cell phone. The end result is a warm, largely piano and string-based collection of songs and pieces straight from the heart and pen of a dreamer!
“The Secret… is to Dream” OFFICIAL CD Release Show features Sharona with full band, upright bass, violin and backup singers. Supporting musicians are Frank Fusari, Greg Clarke, Dave Walsh and Evelyn Osborne.
Guest opener is acoustic folk singer-songwriter Ian Foster (www.ianfoster.ca). Also we are honoured to have popular motivational speaker Paul White to present some inspiring words. (www.paulwhite.ca)
