Description
The Tuolumne River Trust will sponsor a family festival, entitled “Green on the Stream-Honoring the Tuolumne River through Music, Education and Activism,” on Saturday, May 30 (2pm-6pm) at the Tuolumne River Regional Park in Modesto. The event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to bring picnics and blankets.
This special event is a first of its kind in Modesto and promises to unite our community in a creative space to celebrate volunteer efforts, promote activism, awareness and protection of the river so that future generations will enjoy the same resources and beauty that the Tuolumne River shares with our community today.
The festival will have fly fishing demonstrations, a nature walk along the oak trees and river, fun and interactive wildlife exhibitions for kids, a rock climbing wall, face painting clowns, MID’s Splasher the Frog and families will welcome Paddle to the Sea canoeists as they arrive in Modesto. Live performances are scheduled by Modesto’s first 60’s inspired go-go dance troupe, the Radiowaves, and belly dancers from Adamantin. Musical performances by the catchy pop jazz duo Shadow Puppet Theatre and a blend folk, bluegrass and blues by Sonora’s Coyote Hill.
