Description
From 2pm to 5pm on the first Sunday afternoon of every month, we invite you to step through our doors and explore the history of the East End. The special feature of our monthly Open House sessions is the opportunity to attend a lesson in our Victorian Classroom. Whether you're 5 or 85, you'll love it - we promise you.
The Victorian lesson runs from 2:15pm & from 3:30pm every month. Lessons are held in our evocative and impressive Victorian Classroom filled with well-used school desks, dunce hats, ink wells and slate boards and pencils. Led by an actor in full Victorian costume, these 45 minute sessions take place on the Museum's first floor (stair access only). As capacity in the classroom is limited to 34 people per session, you are advised to book your place as you arrive at the Museum to ensure you don't miss out. Please note that we have a suggested donation of £2 for the lesson.
As well as engaging in this historical roleplay where you'll be tested on your slate board handwriting technique, you and your family can handle historic objects in our Victorian East End Kitchen, have a chat in our canalside cafe and take home your own piece of history from the Museum shop.
