Description
Flagstaff Cultural Partners will host the 9th annual fine crafts exhibition with an opening reception featuring fine foods and beverages, activities and a post-reception performance by Tom Sheeley. The fine crafts exhibition, It's Elemental, celebrates the talent and creativity of regional craftspeople, as well as the beauty of materials traditionally associated with fine craft work.
This is the 9th consecutive year the Elemental exhibition has been showing at the Coconino Center for the Arts. The exhibition features a rare focus on functional craft and includes creations from clay, wood, fiber, metal, glass, and paper including book making. Most of the participating artists will be available for questions during the opening reception on November 21. The opening reception begins at 6:00p at the Coconino Center for the Arts. The public is encouraged to attend this free event.
Tickets for the Tom Sheeley concert can be purchased in advance for $15 or day of the show for $18, pending a sold out performance. For tickets and concert info: canyonguitar.org. After opening night, regular hours for the exhibition will be Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00a to 5:00p with the exhibition running through December 19, 2009.
This year, the show will highlight the “elements” of wood and metal as the exhibition’s focal point. The theme will provide additional opportunities for wood and metal artists to share their work with guests and participants of the show.
In part with It’s Elemental there will also be a Fine Crafts Sale, December 5-6 featuring many of the artists featured in the exhibition. The Fine Crafts Sale will run from 10:00p to 4:00p and is a great place to get those last minute gifts for your loved ones. Many artists participating in the sale will feature pieces starting in the $10 range, on up which are perfect for the holiday season.
