Description

CLGS has partnered with the Center for Jewish Studies at the Graduate Theological Union for this special "Lavender Lunch." Join Torah Queeries editor Gregg Drinkwater for an interactive conversation and text-study inspired by this groundbreaking collection of queer bible commentary from NYU Press. What does it mean to "queer" the Torah? What insights might an LGBT perspective bring to the
Hebrew Bible? How can allies learn from and contribute their own queer perspectives on
Judaism's most sacred text?

Bring your lunch to the Mudd Building on the PSR campus (Room 100) and CLGS will provide drinks and dessert. (Note: This Lavender Lunch starts at 12:15, a bit earlier than usual.)

Gregg Drinkwater is Executive Director of Jewish Mosaic: The National Center for Sexual Gregg Drinkwaterand
Gender Diversity, an organization dedicated to helping Jewish institutions become more welcoming of LGBT Jews and their families. He is the co-editor, with Dr. David Shneer and Rabbi Joshua Lesser, of the book Torah Queeries: Weekly Commentaries on the Hebrew Bible (NYU Press, Oct. 2009), inspired by the online Torah commentary project he launched in 2006, in collaboration with the World Congress of GLBT Jews. He has served as a volunteer, board member or advisor to a wide range of Jewish and LGBT organizations and is currently the president of Limmud Colorado. Drinkwater has worked in nonprofit communications, at a daily

California, Berkeley, where he also devoted several years to a Ph.D. in history.
