Take It Easy - Early Reggae Night

A Tilos Witchkitchen Series keretein belül havi rendszerességgel olyan zenekarok, zenei formációk és egyéb művészeti projektek mutatkoznak be, melyek a Tilosban vagy a Tilos körül jöttek létre, munkásságukban és szellemiségükben szorosan kötődnek a rádióhoz.

A sorozat hatodik állomásán a Magyarországon egyre népszerűbb ska és reggae szcéna egyik legújabb formációja, a T-Rex Riders mutatkozik be. A Lipi Brown (PASO) által életre hívott zenekar a hazánkban méltatlanul mellőzött rocksteady, lovers rock és early reggae műfajokat tűzte a zászlajára és olyan, a szerelem lüktetését, a rocksteady beat pulzálását vagy a dirty reggae jegyeit magukon hordozó klasszikus számokat játszanak, mint Hopeton Lewis - Take It Easy-je vagy a Harry J Allstars – Liquidator című örökbecsűje. A feldolgozások hiteles adaptálására a banda felállása a garancia. A tagságot Lipi Brown (dob, vokál) mellett az Another Day tagjai (NO sick'- ének; Táltos - gitár, vokál; Tom - billentyű, vokál), Darth Wada (basszusgitár) alkotják. A Pioneers-, Ethiopians-, Upsetters- és úgy általában a '60-as évek végi és '70-es évek eleji roots reggae előtti jamaicai zenék kedvelőinek kötelező megismernie ezt a zenekart!

Az esemény egyben a T-Rex Riders feat. TB Homelock első lemezének bemutatója. Ekkor jelenik meg Vesuvians címmel a zenekar maxi lemeze, ami egyedi tervezésű pólókkal együtt kapható lesz a helyszínen.

A koncert után a budapesti dancehall-reggae élet első női soundsysteme, a Sound Sistaz szolgáltatja a klasszikus jamaikai ütemeket. A 2006 óta működő klasszikus DJ formációnak jelenleg három tagja van, Sista (Sebő Gabi), Dorothy (Pelsőczi Dóra) és Mc Nina (Nina Reid) egyenesen Jamaikából, aki 2008 májusa óta tagja a soundsystemnek.

Tilos is a non-profit community radio station in Budapest, regularly organizing various party events around town, among them is Tilos Witchkitchen Series held regularly on a monthly basis at the Budapest Jazz Club. The concept is to present bands, musical formations and other art projects that have been created at or around Radio Tilos, and therefore are closely associated with the work and philosophy of the radio.

The 6th episode of the series introduces T-Rex Riders, one of the newest formations of the more and more popular ska and reggae scene in Hungary. The band was brought to life by Lipi Brown (PASO) with the goal to promote such sub-genres as rocksteady, lovers rock and early reggae which are still unfairly ignored in our country. The group plays a lot of classic tunes bearing the pulsating beats of rocksteady, the vibes of love or the characteristics of dirty reggae, such as Hopeton Lewis’s Take It Easy or Harry J Allstars’ Liquidator. The guarantee for the remakes’ authenticity is the band itself, comprised of Lipi Brown (drums, backup vocal), members of the group Another Day (NO sick'- vocals; Táltos - guitar, backup vocal; Tom – keyboards, backup vocal) and Darth Wada (bass guitar). For those who like the Pioneers, the Ethiopians, the Upsetters and generally Jamaican pre-roots reggae music of the end of the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s, it is absolutely compulsory to get to know this band!

At the same time, the event is also the release party of the first single of T-Rex Riders feat. TB Homelock. This is the day when the single Vesuvians comes out, which you may purchase together with uniquely designed T-Rex T-shirts.

After the live show, the party continues with some classic Jamaican rhythms provided by the first female dancehall-reggae soundsystem in Budapest, the Sound Sistaz. The all-female DJ-formation was founded in 2006 by Sista (Gabi Sebő) and Dorothy (Dóra Pelsőczi), and was expanded in 2008 when Mc Nina (Nina Reid) from Jamaica joined the pair.
