We have a big, exciting event here at TSD on Saturday, Nov 1 - Kars & Kids. It's a fun, family carnival and classic car and hotrod show. We have needs for lots of volunteers! Here are some of the opportunities

· Event setup: some setup will start on Friday afternoon, Oct 31, but most volunteers are needed Saturday morning, starting at 8:00am.
The event is open to the public, starting at 10:00 am, and will go until 3:00 or 4:00 pm, depending if we still have a crowd. Then we'll tear down everything.

· The event will be on TSD's campus, outside on the football and baseball fields, facing First street.

· Volunteers will assist with carnival activities, helping take tickets and managing kids on the Rockwall, Moonwalks, Bungee, etc - helping suit up where gear is involved. We will have interpreters floating, but it's always good to have a signer at these kids events to help. (It would be a great opportunity for ASL students to practice a bit, without any pressure!) Also, if you've got any artists, we need face painters. And we'll need helpers to work a photo booth, taking and printing pictures.
We may also have parking at a nearby garage, so will need volunteers stationed there throughout the day to direct folks to the pathway to the event, or to the shuttle buses, as well as stationed at the school entrances. Volunteers will also help check-in the car registrants (who can arrive as early as 8:30), who each receive a t-shirt, and direct them to the show area.

· We expect a good mix of deaf and hearing attendees to be there.

· No cost to attend. Admission to the event is free. Tickets will be sold for the carnival activities, and food/drink will be pay by cash.

· Kars & Kids is a fun, family event with a kid's carnival and classic cars and hot rods on display. The event is a fund raiser for the Texas School for the Deaf, with proceeds helping to purchase equipment for TSD's auto-body instruction program and provide needed classroom technology.
