Description

Heads up....The CA Supreme Court just upheld Prop 8.

This ruling is NOT a surprise. The case was not argued on the basis of rights but on a complicated legal basis that was destined to lose. But here's a gay twist. The Court considers all those LG marriages last year to be valid. Welcome to the pretzel-like nature of the law.

If anything, the ruling confirms that the California ballot process is seriously wrong. It allows for Tyranny of the Mob where the majority is allowed to constantly deny equal rights to a minority.

If we still taught civics in school, more people would understand that we are not a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic. Our forefathers knew that the public could not be trusted to vote in the best interests of those lesser members of society. It's true. When the Supreme Court overruled the ban on interracial marriage in 1967, 87% of America did NOT believe interracial marriage was legal. That means our own President's parents would have been denied the right to get married. THINK ABOUT IT!

And in the meantime, how about Iowa and the Northeast? It looks like California no longer leads the nation when it comes to progressive social issues.

So here's the deal. We'll keep up the fight. Another ballot measure will come up in 2010 and this time, in the wake of all those other States passing gay marriage, WE WILL WIN. In fact, I predict we will win significantly, as much as 60-40.

Time only moves forward. We will be citizens.
