Description
Come dressed up and ready to dance! Winners in our preshow dance contest will receive two tickets to this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest!
We don't usually delve back deeper into the pop music well than the 1980s - there aren't a whole lot of music videos in the pre-MTV era, after all. But we decided that it was HIGH time we got some disco balls installed at the Ritz, and it just didn't seem right to debut them at anything less than a celebration of disco joy. So we've collected all the best videos and live performances of disco superstars from the true era of excess, when Studio 54 was still raging, suits were always white, and the samples we heard in the Jiggy Crunk show were first recorded, giving birth to a whole new craze of dance party that's still going on strong today.
If you missed our first night of this show, you missed the one and only time to see that incarnation. But don't worry about what you missed - what you're going to get with this show is going to be bigger, better, shinier, flashier, and all around more amazing. We set the bar high last time, and it was the first and only time I've ever had someone lean over to me during a dance party on the stage to say, "Please, don't stop the party," but I think we can take that bar even higher. We took out a couple of songs that didn't fit in so well, and we've added in some new songs that we can't believe we left out last time. Bring the dancingest dancing shoes you've got, because trust me, you'll need them.
We'll start the show off with a '70s disco costume contest, maybe have a dance off or two, and then start our disco balls spinning for the first time to the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, Diana Ross, and sooo much more. Then we'll get back to doing tons of '90s stuff in November.
