Description
Committed to providing the finest cultural events in the Reno-Tahoe community, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival brings the music of the Reno Baroque Ensemble together with soloists and orchestral artists from the Sacramento Philharmonic, the Reno Chamber Orchestra and the Reno Philharmonic in two rare holiday performances. Held at the Resort at Squaw Creek, Olympic Valley, Calif., at 8 p.m. Dec. 7 and the historic Trinity Episcopal Church, located in downtown Reno, Nev., at 8 p.m. on Dec. 14, each concert features nationally acclaimed bass and soprano soloists Gary Aldrich and Jennifer Tibben-Lembke as well as Dan Flanagan, Sacramento Philharmonic and Sacramento Opera Concertmaster, performing Joseph Achron’s “Hebrew Melody.”
Part of the Festival’s continuing effort to expand its program of musical, theatrical and artistic performances, each concert brings Bach’s enchanting “Cantata: Wachet Auf, Ruft Uns Die Stimme,” Mozart’s lively “Divertimento D Major” and Telemann’s delightful “Werfet Panier Auf Im Lande” together in one performance. The two-concert series furthers the Festival’s mission of bringing the finest of cultural events to the Reno-Tahoe area.
“The Festival is thrilled to bring together these amazing musicians for two exceptional nights,” said Catherine Atack, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. “The performers have been specially selected to celebrate traditional, centuries-old holiday music for the Reno-Tahoe community. The concert at Squaw marks our second year of developing a holiday production and collaborating with the Resort at Squaw Creek. We are excited to continue to build our repertoire of programs with these expanded offerings with a celebration of timeless holiday music.”
General admission tickets for either performance are $20. The performance at the Resort at Squaw Creek offers additional ticketing options including VIP seating starting at $35 and dinner and lodging packages starting at $60.
