Making a Difference in Calgary
The people of Calgary have come together to raise funds for several quality of life projects in their community. Funds have supported the Canadian Paraplegic Association’s (CPA) annual peer information conference, an event that brings together experts in many topics related to spinal cord injury to share their expertise with individuals living with physical disabilities. The CPA also hosts ongoing peer events throughout the year, a great venue for building friendships and relationships among its membership.
A portion of the funds from the 2008 Calgary event also went to the installation of a ceiling track at the Talisman Centre. The new addition will allow individuals with high-level injuries to access the swimming pools & hot tubs.
Other quality of life projects funded in 2008:
- Adapted Fitness Program for People with Disabilities
- Improving the Spinal Cord Injury Wards at the Foothills Hospital
