Description

Each spring, Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga proudly honors women in the greater Chattanooga area who have made significant contributions to the advancement of women through our “UnBought and UnBossed” awards.

Started in 2005 to celebrate local female role models, Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga named the awards after Rep. Shirley Chisholm, the first African American woman to serve in Congress and run for president. During her 1972 presidential bid, Chisholm declared herself to be “unbought and unbossed” and as a woman who was “determined, intelligent and audacious in her beliefs.” She also described herself as a “catalyst for change.”

The 2009 awards breakfast will be held on April 22, 2009 and will honor ten local women who embody Chisholm’s ideals. Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga is currently accepting nominations from the community through January 2009. Please complete the nomination form below and return it to Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga by e-mail at info@girlsincofchatt.org or by fax to 423-698-4345 by January 31, 2009.
