Description
How in the world do we interpret Old Testament law? The Christian Scriptures include law codes from a very different place and time. So, how do we interpret them for us today? Many of our controversies within the church arise from different interpretations. So, how do we foster more faithful methods to strengthen faithful interpretations? Beth Elness-Hanson will begin the process of increasing our understanding of: 1) law codes in the Ancient Near East, 2) the covenantal context of Torah, 3) how Torah was interpreted in other passages of the Old and New Testament, and finally 4) what clues we’ve discovered can be applied for increasingly faithful interpretations in our context.
Taught by Professor Beth Elness-Hanson, director of our Biblical Studies Department.
