Description
Students for Concealed Carry on Campus is announcing its third Empty Holster Protest for the week of April 20 - 24, 2009.
PROTEST INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1: Click "Attending".
Step 2: Invite your friends.
Step 3: Coordinate with your local campus group. You can locate local groups here:
http://concealedcampus.org/state-by-state.php
If there is not one on your campus, go to our website and follow the instructions to volunteer for your campus: http://concealedcampus.org/campusleaders.php
Step 4: Send advanced notices to your local authorities. (About two weeks in advance is ideal.)
5. Throughout the protest week, wear an EMPTY holster on your person as you attend class and other campus-related activities.
PROTEST GUIDELINES:
1. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU PLACE ANYTHING IN YOUR HOLSTER THAT EVEN REMOTELY RESEMBLES E A FIREARM. SCCC will not sanction, condone, support or approve of any such behavior. Still further, don't carry ANYTHING in your holster. This protest is symbolic for being disarmed; placing anything in the holster will confuse and perhaps alarm observers. Thus, if your holster has a top flap designed to cover a pistol, find a way to pin or tie that flap open so that it is readily apparent that your holster is empty.
2. Provide advance notice of the protest to your school administrators and campus security/police. Our goal is not to be enemies with campus security or administrations, and the more we attempt to level with them and maintain diplomatic ties, the better.
3. When wearing your empty holster (and/or ConcealedCampus.com T-shirt) you are representing SCCC to a certain extent. Therefore, please conduct yourself with professionalism, dignity and courtesy. You are likely to face opposition and ridicule, but no matter what anyone says to you, never lose your cool. If you don't convince your opponents, you will at least demonstrate patience and tolerance for onlookers.
4. If, at anytime during the protest, a member of the opposition “crosses the line,” notify the appropriate authorities immediately. Though facing ridicule is part of the price for standing up for your beliefs, giving up your basic human rights is not part of that price. If anyone threatens you with any illegal action (violent or non-violent), IMMEDIATELY notify campus or local police. If a professor suggests that your participation in the protest may somehow negatively affect your grade in his or her class, notify your school administration and contact your State and Regional Directors for SCCC.
5. Under no circumstances should any protestor wear a holster onto the campus of any high school, junior high, middle school, or elementary school. This protest is about concealed carry by licensed individuals on college campuses. The agenda of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus does not encompass similar issues affecting primary and secondary schools.
6. Make sure you know and follow the applicable state/municipal laws and school policies affecting your campus. If you attend a public college and are denied permission to protest, immediately contact your SCCC State or Regional Directors as this is more than likely unconstitutional censorship.
7. Use your best judgment at all times. The organizers of this protest cannot foresee every possible scenario. If you encounter a situation for which you are not prepared, think through it, and use your best judgment.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:
In addition to the protest (or if you are not on a campus, this is your way to contribute!), here are some following activities to engage in:
Monday, April 20: INVITE-A-FRIEND DAY
We all invited our friends when we first joined, but you've made new ones since then. Find one friend who you haven't invited to the group yet and invite them.
Tuesday, April 21: FACEBOOK PROFILE DAY
Give your Facebook profile an SCCC makeover: put a link to ConcealedCampus.org in your Facebook status update all day, and change your profile picture to reflect SCCC and the college-enforced defenselessness.
Wednesday, April 22: Letter Day
Check your state page for pending legislation, then visit our Write My Representative link: http://concealedcampus.org/your_reps.php and send a personalized e-mail or letter to your representative. Then write a letter to your student and local paper and politely express your support for concealed carry on campus.
Thursday: Radio Call-In Day
Call in to local and national radio shows to express your support for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. (This is especially valuable if you are a parent or teacher.)
Friday: "Money Bomb Day"
Donate $5 or more to SCCC. Students are not known for being wealthy, but if set aside just $5, and each member gave $5, SCCC would really be in a position to fund some great projects on behalf of the group. If you can give more, fantastic. But at least $5.
