The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act (SCAN) is a provincial private member's bill sponsored by Ottawa-Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi. SCAN would allow municipalities to appoint a Director with the power to investigate residents based on anonymous complaints and seek their removal without a hearing before the Landlord and Tenant Board.
Whether you are a tenant or a property owner, SCAN potentially threatens YOUR housing, and subverts your rights. This event is an opportunity for members of the community to learn about and discuss SCAN/Bill 106, its potential impact, and what can be done about it.
