Description

Be sure to sign up for this Spring Fling Event taking place on April 17th @ CSU Fullerton!

Academic libraries in California are feeling the effects of the state’s budget crisis. Many of us are wondering how we can continue to provide excellent services and resources in a time of extreme economic downturn.

Our program’s first guest speaker will explain how the state budget affects higher education. Then a panel of librarians representing the UC, CSU, community colleges, and private colleges will describe how their institutions are responding to the financial crisis, specifically addressing staffing needs, materials budgets, administrative costs, and public services. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. Attendees will gain insight into how their colleagues are grappling with difficult issues and will leave with concrete ideas for making the best of the tough times.

Refreshments will be served.

Speakers:
Henry Reichman, Professor of History, CSU East Bay, Academic Senator
Caroline Bordinaro, MLIS, Information Literacy and Library Instruction Coordinator, CSU Dominguez Hills
Gale Burrow, MLIS, The Claremont Colleges
Jacqueline Lesch, MLIS, Riverside Community College
Helen Henry, Associate University Librarian, UC Davis
