WHERE: Jin Lounge (2017 14th St. NW)
WHY: To witness and support the women as they express themselves in different performances that evoke emotion.
ABOUT CREATIVE EXPLOSION V
Creative Explosion strives to be a safe space for API women to express themselves, to celebrate their lives and experiences, and to empower and inspire API women to contribute to their communities. It seeks to challenge our marginalization and oppression and to support established and emerging local artists in our communities.
This year’s theme, “Recovery, Reflection, Renewal: API Women Reclaim Their Voices,” encompasses the processes or acts of recovery from an economic crisis, a traumatic experience, a natural disaster, a war, a past, a history of an individual and/or a community. It is rooted in the resistance, strength, and resilience of API women and women of color, as we struggle through our daily lives, constantly reflecting, healing, renewing, and reclaiming our selves and experiences.
