Description
Over 500 area students and community members will join the VocalEssence Chorus & Ensemble Singers to perform the world premieres of brand new works, written specifically for them by three Mexican composers taking part in the VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Program, a new educational initiative. This year-long program culminates on Tuesday, May 12th (7:30 pm) with the VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! Community Concert Celebration at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. The performance is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 7:15 pm.
Through its new educational program, VocalEssence ¡Cantaré! links Mexican composers with students and adults in our community through residencies in schools, churches and choral organizations. Composers Jorge Córdoba, Jorge Cózatl and Sabina Covarrubias have created a new body of Spanish language music for voice and instruments that will be shared with the community.
