***Kristen Leigh***
Influenced primarily by traditional folk music and artists like Tori Amos, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell & Fiona Apple, the self-taught North Carolina native has independently recorded and released four albums: a collection of originals and covers entitled "Last Call" in 2006, the "Home for Christmas" album, "Caution to the Wind," which chronicles her breakup with her fiancé and subsequent travels to California, and her most recent project, an album entitled "Still Apt," featuring Leigh's unique interpretation of 11 songs of social protest written during the 60's and 70's. Though her lyrics are written from a blatantly autobiographical perspective, Kristen Leigh's hope in the face of raw human experience and the diverse musical background from which she draws her notes are able to strike a universal chord. Maintaining her sense of humor even in her darkest moments (of which there have been a few), Leigh strives to bring change through her music by conveying her creativity and authenticity as an intentional spiritual practice that can inspire people to lead more honest, faithful and compassionate lives.
***Morgan McPherson***
Twenty-four year old pianist/singer/songwriter Morgan McPherson has been writing songs nearly all her life. "I didn't have any brothers or sisters, so I made friends with our little upright piano...and we'd have long conversations", Morgan comments when asked about the beginning of her composing life. A graduate of the University of North Carolina's School of Music in December 2007, Morgan intends to continue living a life devoted to music by teaching piano, composing and producing new music, and touring. With her first E. P. entitled "Fragile Little Me" that she produced herself, she certainly has a good start. Morgan writes predominately pianistically centered lyrical ballads with words of sharp honesty that bares the soul and tells a story. "Each song tells a story. Maybe it's real, maybe it's not, or maybe only part of it is real. If I was going through a really tough time, I'd go to the piano and work it out there, because that was really one of the only places I felt comfortable revealing emotions."
***Randy Furches***
Randy Furches records and performs Blues, Rock, Hip-Hop and Acousitc original music and is from here in the Triad. His music has been featured in full-page articles in The New York Times 2/2/09 edition and in The Winston-Salem Journal 1/28/09 edition. His songs have been played on Majic 94.1 Locals Only and WQFS Mad Dog's Rock Show. In 2009, he re-wrote and recorded a song written by his Great-Great Uncle Peter DeGreff called "Poor Ellen Smith." Randy is now busy finishing a song to be played on French radio. Randy's favorite MySpace artists are The Tan Case, Morgan McPherson, Leaving Venus, Avian X, Jennifer Furches, Josh Glenn and The Radials.
