I'm in the running for a summer internship with TOMS shoes in LA - and I have to prove my creativity, passion & organizational skills by hosting a One Day Without Shoes event in Austin.

The idea behind TOMS is one for one; for every pair you buy, another pair is donated to a child in need. Since its founding in 2006, TOMS has donated more than 140,000 pairs. Oh, and the shoes are insanely comfortable :)

Here's where you come in: stop by Doug Sahm Hill in Butler Park (west of the Palmer Events Center) to relax and hang out barefoot! Bring a blanket, fly a kite, tweet about the event, bring your dog, play frisbee, have a picnic with food from Sandy's or P. Terry's...whatever floats your boat. Just be sure to do it barefoot to help me raise awareness about TOMS and their efforts to prevent podoconiosis, a debilitating disease that can be avoided simply by wearing shoes.

Bring as many friends as you'd like - the more the merrier! Spread the word. And if you can't make it, feel free to go barefoot somewhere else and send me pictures.
