Description
This year's winner of the Artist's Choice award the the Pavilion's Art's Night 2009 show , Denise DuBroy, brings her colorful take on the SD prairies to Rug & Relic. A California native, and graduate of U California Santa Cru and the San Francisco Art Institute, Denise moved to western SD in 1993.
“Her paintings are abstract and intuitive. They are not narrative or literal landscapes, but are deeply influenced by both a "birds-eye view" as well as an "insect's view" of the shapes and colors that dominate the western landscape; long country roads, railroad tracks, stock ponds, fence and section lines, stray rocks and leaves, airborne cotton, meandering creeks and sprawling pastures of different colored grasses.” (courtesy denisedubroy.com)
