What should you bring on a trip?
• Canoe or kayak and paddles.
• Sunscreen, a hat, and bug spray.
• Dry bag for wallet, keys, and other objects
• Lunch, and adequate liquid to drink.
• Sneakers that can get wet.
• Appropriate dry clothes and a towel in a plastic bag
• Dress in layers so it's easy to dress lighter or
warmer when the weather changes.
Personal Flotation Devices PFDs (life preservers)
are required: The MRWC strongly recommends that you
and your children wear your life preserver at all
times while paddling.
New Hampshire law requires one wearable PFD must
present for each person in the boat and that PFD must
be worn by everyone age 5 or under.
Massachusetts law requires that life preservers be
worn by each person under age 13, and by all persons
in a canoe or kayak between September 15 and May 15.

So, what should I know before coming on a trip?
Know how to swim. Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) are required for all paddlers on MRWC trips.
You are responsible for your own safety.
All trip leaders are volunteers and are not trained in assisting special needs.
Beginners should take trips labeled easy.
You will need to bring your canoe or kayak. Sometimes there may be outfitters in the area who can supply or rent boats and other equipment. Ask your trip leader - well in advance - for suggestions.
We discourage taking small children unless you are an experienced boater.
Please leave your pets in the safety of your own home. Sorry, but no dogs on trips, please!
Dress appropriately for the weather - April and May trips involve cold water; paddlers on April trips must dress for cold-water conditions and carry dry clothes in boats.
It's a good idea to contact the trip leader a few days before the trip.
Go to put-in first; volunteers will coordinate shuttling drivers to take-out.
We paddle rain or shine at a leisurely pace with a lunch break around noon.
Most trips end by 3:00 pm.
No registration is required unless otherwise noted.
All trips are free.
