Description
The OSU Opera and Department of Theatre present Mozart's comic opera masterpiece, 'The Marriage of Figaro'.
OSU Opera director Peter Kozma's updated version of 'The Marriage of Figaro' is set in an English manor in the late 20th century. The cast includes 11 principal singers and a small chorus, all of whom are voice students in the School of Music. The opera will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.
"The Marriage of Figaro is a story of two couples - one whose marriage seems to be broken and the other's marriage, which is about to take place, is halted by the problems of the first couple. Of course, to get to the solution they have to go through many hilarious situations: hiding, switching clothes (as well as identities) until everyone learns a lesson," explains Kozma. "This is a story about love. How different generations experience it and try to make sense of it. The story transcends time and space and speaks to us about situations we have all experienced."
