Description
GRAND NEWS FLASH- Starting MAY 15th, Nightlight will become a Private Membership Club and begin selling mixed beverages beyond just beer and wine. Membership is a mere $5 dollars and will be sold in advance.
Here's the lineup, folks:
Impossible Arms--"packs in hooks, freakouts, drone and guitar sludge like no tomorrow happened yesterday. Harkens back to the days of SST bands like Dinosaur Jr. and the Minutemen, but with a songwriting style and lyrical wit wholly their own." (from Odesssa Records website)
Schooner--"make you smile while eviscerating the human race" (Aiding & Abetting)
Uncle Woody Sullender--"former Chapel Hill musician and label owner. For several years now in Chicago and New York, he's been playing the part of an inexhaustible jazz improviser, always looking for a new context for a centuries-old instrument, the banjo (much like violinist Billy Bang). Sullender plays with the instrument solely outside of its traditional use in bluegrass or old-time music, focusing instead on its unique acoustic resonance and percussive design." (Chris Toenes, Independent)
Actual Persons (Living or Dead)--"Dave & Kerry Cantwell, plus Joyce Ventimiglia. At the show I saw, Joyce sang most/all the songs, and so if you saw her bands Holy Roman Empire or America's Next Top Models, they're sort of not at all like those bands, but maybe also similar." (Ross Grady, trianglerock.com)
Come out early and stay late.
Thanks to Dave Cantwell for making this happen.
