Description
CRAIG AMOS
Craig’s work is strongly influenced by the human form and its place in the natural and urban environment. He works in both figurative and abstract form capturing a bright and unique view of the urban sprawl. Craig manages to capture the personality of each individual in his paintings and by doing this he is able to make comment relating to both personal and communal identity. In ‘Urban Feast’ he has added his carnival characters which allow him to add further dimensions and plays of emotions by using masks, theatre, circus and comedy. The three masks are the lover, the joker and the sloth. The mask itself is a reminder of the restrictions of individual viewpoint. “I try to engage the viewer to consider the interrelationship between performance and reality.”
WENDY POUND
I grew up in a very creative family. Art was play time, relaxation and and escape...it pretty much still is. After being around traditional art whilst growing up i emerged with my own style that continues to grow as I explore my love of the figurative subject - a reflection, observation, experience and a record of many stories evolving as a sculpture or painting.
I express the Urban shadow, those that remain behind the door/ curtained window. An unobserved world that survives... exists behind windows and doors. A world that is hiding weaknesses, wounds, misconceptions, loneliness and isolation.
This exhibition has been about the misjudged, the victims, the eccentrics and social outsiders. I want the viewer to take a moment and be in their space...go into my the painting, give the subject some acknowledgment for who they might be and spend some time with the subject. Most of the paintings are about a journey and the tracks we cut across the urban community.
This exhibition is a must see for anyone who likes art that pushes the senses and creates thought insight. see you on the 2nd of july 2009. Special preformance will be on the night as well ;)
