Description
The Great Books Curriculum will host a student read-a-round: "Borders." Please announce to your students and tell them to come to the Luria Library, bringing along their favorite GB book, poem, play, or philosopher. Let's consider the various borders that we erect to separate ourselves from cultures, nature, even from one's closest neighbor as is the case with Frost's apple farmer. But consideration through beautiful words from our most beloved authors, those who form the foundation of Western and World culture. Taken
another way, too, borders can serve as points of connection and intersection. (We can imagine these two farmers, can't we, meeting -- talking, tossing stones to one another, dogs barking, sharing pictures of the new grandbaby -- on just this one particular day each year.)
Nice Refreshments. (Scones for St. Paddy's Day)
