If you missed this blockbuster session at the 2008 conference, or just want to hear more on this important topic, here is your chance! Most interpretive staff supervisors recognize the importance of having their volunteers or employees engage visitors rather than just talk at them. And yet, we often find ourselves training interpreters by talking at them or requiring them to slog through binders of information. In this facilitated discussion, several colleagues will briefly describe interactive training activities that have worked for them. We will then open the floor for descriptions of other successful or not-so-successful activities VAM meeting participants have tried. Furthermore, we will discuss how to judge the effectiveness of these strategies.
