NIAC Fundraiser to Amplify the Voice of the Iranian People
No Iranian American has been left untouched by the strength and courage shown by the Iranian people in the past few weeks. We have been moved by their quest for basic freedoms. Many of us feel helpless and have asked, what can we do? Rest assured we are not powerless. Here is what we have done and what we can continue to do.
While taking the pulse of the Iranian-American community, the National Iranian American Council has been the only Iranian-American organization consulted regularly by the White House. Through our consultations with the White House, President Obama has taken a strong stance against the violence in Iran while at the same time refraining from taking sides.
Through NIAC, the Iranian-American community has a direct line to the highest decision-makers in the US.
Our position is to amplify the voices of people in Iran – not impose an agenda on them. This is needed now more than ever before due to the crackdown by the Iranian government on both traditional and new media channels.
NIAC has been a trusted source of information and analysis since the election. On a daily basis NIAC has been interviewed by CNN and MSNBC. Our blog, NIACinSight has being picked up by many media outlets including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, the Atlantic and the New Yorker.
NIAC has been able to play this key role at a devastating time because of our unparalleled track record and the support of our community.
Now more than ever, for our work to continue, for the voice of the brave Iranians to be heard in its purity, we need your support on July 11.
The event is hosted by the National Iranian American Council in cooperation with Maryam Borghey, Al Garman, Julia Getsch, Sean Jazayeri, Kata Naficy, Schanon and Tony Ataee, Reza Firouzbakht, Mohammad Moghaddas, Sia Vossoughi and Parisa Sadeghi
