On behalf of the Brotherhood Ride this year’s biycle tour will be dedicated to Fort Myers Police Fallen Officer Andrew Widman.

In 2007 a group of North Naples Firefighers wanted to honor nine members of the Charleston, South Carolina Fire Department that perished in the line of duty on June 18, 2007. Their desire to help the families of these brave professionals resulted in the creation of the Brotherhood Ride. It consists of firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel. Each year they honor a hero by riding bicycles from North Naples to their fallen comrade’s hometown. The mission is to provide emotional and financial support to their families and friends. It is a reminder that the brotherhood has not and will not forget them.

Organizers have been planning the ride for months. In light of recent events involving Cape Coral Police Officer Damien Garcia, Susanna Widman would like to share the proceeds of the Brotherhood ride to assist in Officer Garcia’s recovery. The Brotherhood Ride will bike 413 miles in six days. The ride will begin on the anniversary of Officer Widman’s death, July 18th, from the North Naples Fire District Station 45 returning July 23rd to the Fort Myers Police Department. Brotherhood Ride night at the Miracle game July 10th. Tickets are $13 and include admission, hotdog and soda voucher and a ball cap.
