For two nights in 2009, well over 1000 people packed the Bell House in downtown Brooklyn to witness the first ever Brooklyn Soul Festival. Seven artists – veterans of the genre as well as talented young soul disciples – amazed an eclectic audience of local and international soul fans with a revue that recalled the Apollo Theater in its 1960s heyday and set Brooklyn music blogs abuzz for weeks.

This October the Brooklyn Soul Festival returns to the Bell House with an incredible lineup – headlined by two legendary women of Gulf Coast soul and backed by two of the most in-demand bands in soul music today – that promises to outshine even last year’s stellar bill. The massive event also features a top-notch record fair, locally catered soul food, and a slew of international soul DJs.

The Second Annual Brooklyn Soul Festival is a joint presentation of two local movers-and-shakers of the Brooklyn scene – the team behind the highly acclaimed monthly live music series Dig Deeper and Capitol Records recording artist Eli “Paperboy” Reed.
