  • The original demonstration took place on Copenhagen Fields (now King's Cross), London on 21 April, 1834 against the sentences of transportation imposed on the Tolpuddle Martyrs.

The commemoration march took place on 25 April 2009 ending a series of festival events that ...started on the 18th April. It has been hailed as one of the most successful local events ever organised in the area and as a model of good practice for others to follow.

Between 35,000 to 100,000 people attended the original demonstration, which was organised by the Central Committee of the Metropolitan Trade Unions and marched through London to Kennington Common with a wagon carrying a petition with over 200,000 signatures for the remission of the Martyrs' sentences.

The 2009 festival was attended by almost 1,000 people remembering those who fought for our rights. A series of events took place including a recreation of the Martyrs' oath, banner making, music, comedy, stalls and all right next to the Tolpuddle Martyrs mural at Edward Square, King's Cross

Could you put up some details of timetable? The poster looks very nice on website but I could not read it, and kept getting some "snapshot" window opening which just confused me. Plain text would be handy so I could both read and copy it to e-mail friends.
