Allston Trading is an automated, low latency trading firm that deals in a variety of products, including futures, options and stock. We are located in Chicago but we trade on exchanges and work with people who are located around the world. The firm employs about a hundr...ed and fifty people, most of whom are nerds. Various jobs include:



* Writing and maintaining software and technology to connect us to exchanges worldwide, preferable with very low latency.



* Doing research to develop profitable strategies.



* Writing software to make decisions on when and where to send orders. Some of this software is very simple. Some is quite complex.



* Adjusting the parameters of our programs in real time to adjust to market conditions, while making observations to assist in the development of new features and strategies



* Working on the finance side of the firm, making sure that the millions of trades done by the firm each day are properly cleared, and negotiating with exchanges banks etcetera to get us the lowest fees, cheapest financing etcetera.



A lot of people don't fit specifically in one of these categories, but define their jobs around what needs to be done rather than a specific job description.
