Everyday Democracy Mexico's new approach to immigration reform - should the U.S. follow this example? Use this video to help spark a conversation about immigration in your community.

Source: bit.ly
Mexico has taken steps to allow the increasing number of foreigners who flood into the country each year, whether legally or illegally, to apply for citizenship. Most of Mexico's immigrants come from Central America, but at least one million of them arrive from United States. ...

the problem with that report is that it doesn't cover the differences in the economic motives between those that immigrate to Mexico and those that immigrate to the USA, regardless their legal status

had it covered that, the story would have been less like propaganda and a bit more like a complete journalistic endeavor

Everyday Democracy A fight between two passengers, one Black and one Asian, that broke out on a bus in San Francisco illustrates racial tensions between the area’s Black and Asian communities. Black and Asian American civil rights leaders saw this incident as a call for action: they came together for a roundtable discussion to explore possible solutions to address underlying racial tensions.

Across the United States, people say that health care costs are too high, too many are uninsured, and too many don't get the care they need. But it is not easy to reach agreement on just what we should do.

Thanks for sharing your own story with us, Dawn. Your situation is just one of many reasons why we need some sort of health care reform. You might also want to share your story and offer your two cents on health care reform by clicking the link above. Stay strong!

I took the workbook and really found it thought-provoking. I would encourage everyone to try it-- it helps us personally understand our position on the issue better, but also helps NIFI expand the impact of deliberation!

I am thrilled to get so much help and support from Everyday Democracy whose Circles process has come to Wausau. The most refreshing comment I have received among participants is that at first they had difficulty committing to a six week session. When we finally came to session six, they wondered where the time had gone. More often than not, they wondered if they could join another Circle. Thanks Carrie

It may be no surprise that racial disparities exist in the health care system, but we actually spend more per capita providing health care for federal inmates than for American Indians. To help close the gap, some lawmakers are pushing to provide free and improved health services for tribal Indians.
