I had heard the Carey center (Springfield) was giving it to people outside the posted target group. I'm hoping my husband can get it soon!

Hi, Thanks for all the updates! Whoever came up with the FB idea should get a raise...or at least put on the list for a raise once the economy improves! I am following today to try to make a guess about how early I must arrive tomorrow to get a slot. When the website says: 191 of 400 shots given does that mean 191 NUMBERS have been given out or ... See Morethat they have actually administered that many SHOTS. That is, if I showed up at 1:30 when the update was posted would I be handed a card that read 192? Thanks so much for clearing this up.

Stephanie: When you arrive at the clinic you will be given a card with a number on it. The number on the web site corresponds to how many cards have been given out.

For adults with medical conditions, is there any verification documentation or anything required to be brought in? I have a heart condition, and want to make sure I have everything I need before I make the trip out there.

Thank you for sharing this. Another way people can help locally is through the Help the Homeless Walk on the National Mall this Saturday. Info can be found at: http://www.helpthehomelessdc.org and people can select Reston Interfaith as their beneficiary. Just another way to give back and help those in need.

Christine: The CDC's recommendation that care-givers of children under 6 months of age (and people in the other target groups) is separate from the recommendations for the type of vaccine individuals should receive. The nasal spray vaccine is approved for people who are healthy, 2-49 years of age, and not pregnant. The CDC says it is safe for ... See Morepeople to receive nasal spray vaccine, even if they come into contact with those who cannot receive the nasal spray. So, parents of infants under 6 months of age can safely receive the nasal spray vaccine. The live virus in this vaccine is attenuated. Because the viruses are weakened, infection is unlikely to result in influenza illness symptoms since the vaccine viruses have not been shown change into typical or naturally occurring influenza viruses.
