Good news but those same Democrats that blocked this bill, won't support a gay marriage bill. One step forward, two steps back. That's WV for ya, I love my state but that's the way it is…

@Dave: Remember in the article when Kessler says, "It appears to be more of a manufactured problem or crisis than it is to be one of actuality.” That's what I'm getting from your post. One step at a time, my friend. While those Dems may not support a marriage bill, they didn't support a constitutional amendment against it. That gives us time to work on them. Please don't manufacture defeat when we've just been handed a victory, however small. One step at a time.

Fairness West Virginia Here's a story on today's rally. Great quotes from ACLU and Fairness. "West Virginia families, gay and straight, are concerned about putting
food on the table and paying their bills, not about further
marginalizing their gay and lesbian neighbors." - Stephen Skinner, Fairness WV President

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Frustrated by what they see as legislative indifference, about 150 people rallied at the state Capitol Thursday to a demand a statewide referendum aimed at reserving marriage for heterosexual couples.

WOW...a bunch of ignorant, white trash, Wal-Mart people with their bibles gathered at the capitol today. I don't why these sort of people are so worried about gay marriage, but have no problem at all with illiteracy and incest.

When I called my senators... See More’ offices, I was asked “WHAT was the BILL or resolution number” that I opposed. After some time, I found there are THREE resolutions before the SENATE that deal with this issue - HJR3; HJR5; and HJR14. (all currently in committee)
I then once again called ALL four WV senators for my district (Kanawha County) and asked that IF they happen to be serving on any of these committees that will be asked to address these resolutions before the FULL SENATE, I would STRONGLY urge and HOPE that NO attention be given as it is ALREADY illegal for same sex couples to marry in West Virginia. There is NO need to recreate the WHEEL, and our elected representatives SHOULD get on with the business of addressing the TRUE issues facing West Virginia, and NOT pander to those that would lobby promoting HATE.
