I have had to leave the textile industry not because of "Cheap Overseas Labor", but because of the imbalance caused by the US Tax Code.
Any industry that hangs out a shingle to make something here in the USA has to donate around 35% of each dollar to the Federal and state government.
In general, items made overseas ...pay no taxes in their own countries because the are exports and little or no tarriff to enter the US ( usually less than 5%).
That places EVERTHING MADE IN THE USA AT A HUGE DISADVANTAGE. So the jobs that could be created making stuff i.e. manufacturing are not created. The

Rorik Simpson I've recently come to the conclusion that FairTax would help alleviate the problem of immigration. As under a FairTax system illegal immigrants would have to pay taxes, while at the same time since you have to be a valid citizen according to the bill to get the rebate, we should see an amazing jump in the amount of peo...ple paying taxes and a noticable percentage of it would not have to be repayed to anyone. Just my two cents, figured I'd share.
