Next stop Thorvaldsens Plads, Copenhagen, to coincide with the Danish capital's hosting of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December.

The British actor, writer, and overall polymath Stephen Fry was yesterday elected as a FFI Vice President. Though best known for his comedy performances, he has recently become more engaged in conservation issues.

FFI was a founding force behind the International Gorilla Conservation Programme. In the 1980s, Sir David Attenborough helped raise £500 to plant the seed which eventually grew into a world renowned, multi-partner conservation programme.

Formed in 1991, IGCP comprises three coalition partners: African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), Fauna & Flora International (FFI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The partnership also incorporates the respective protected area authorities of the three countries in which IGCP works: the Office Rwandais de Tourisme... et des Parcs Nationaux (ORTPN), the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and the Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN).
