Are departments recipe for tragedy is how they pick their officers from the LT's on up. They are not picked for the experience or how long they have been on the department but by what free service can you provide for the department and the board of directors.

It’s Veterans Day and I have a dayoff from my county job. (I thank Veterans for both of those freedoms:to work in a job I love and to have time off to spend with my family). The kids are still sleeping and I have some free time to sit at the computer.

I agree with everyone that wrote here. It is all true, it is sad because of the out come and also that we have to give a firefighters life just to learn what not to do or what to do better when in classes this is preached over and over. stay safe everyone!

It is unbelievable that kids still go to school in wooden buildings and this one didn't even have a sprinkler system. How many others like this are there still around? I thought that the Our Lady Of The Angels school fire that claimed the lives of 92 children and 3 nuns on Dec 1, 1958 would have been instrumental in changing all that by now. That ...
